SMB: Small and medium sized business and server message block networking protocol. POP: Dial-up point of presence, Internet mail reading protocol, or: "Another measurement, a "pop", represents 1000 persons within the geographic area covered by a particular licensing block." Don't people who come up with names for new things have any imagination any more? Lets just call all new technological things "foo" from now on and be done with it.
