Google Opts to Reshuffle its Sales Structure

Google’s (GOOG) new global operations and sales boss Nikesh Arora has started shuffling some chairs.

On Wednesday, Arora and Dennis Woodside, Google’s new vice president for the Americas, announced a series of changes to the Internet giant’s sales staff, which has been in limbo since Google’s top two senior sales and operations executives stepped aside in recent weeks.

A “small number” of jobs were eliminated as part of the moves and those people will be given the chance to look for other jobs at the company, a person close to Google said.

One change, according to Google spokesman Matt Furman, creates a new position of vice president of agency and industry relations, an apparent attempt to streamline and bolster its relations with agencies who control spending from big brands. The job is being filled by long-time Google executive Penry Price, who is being promoted from his previous job of vice president of sales for North America.
