A week ago, StatOilHydro, Norway’s majority state-owned energy company, debuted the world’s first floating offshore wind turbine. The advantage of a floating turbine–as opposed to one firmly anchored in the seabed–is that it can be located in much deeper waters than standard offshore windmills.

Because the site is wholly owned by Dow Jones, publisher of The Wall Street Journal, we aim to adhere to the journalistic standards of the best of the mainstream media.
