So, what happens next? Microsoft has walked away from Yahoo, or at least from its current takeover offer, and is saying it will move forward organically–and said word with its reek of cattle feces is appropriate here. Yahoo, for its part, cites–with less specifics than my 6-year-old gives at day-end when claiming “good behavior”–the many golden wonders ahead of it in its post-Microsoft future.
No market sector is a safe haven when the market is in the mood to throw all equities out as a group, but there had been a feeling, until recently anyway, that technology stocks were safer than some.
Live media events are great, when they work. But watching live services like Twitter collapse around the Steve Jobs keynote this morning provides more great examples (if needed) why the Interweb isn’t yet TV.
